At first, they balked, but when they realized I wasn’t going anywhere, they reluctantly agreed to pay me $200—half the cost of the premium upgrade. The flight crew was sympathetic and found me another seat in the same premium section, which turned out to be even better than my original one. Meanwhile, the entitled couple received some stern looks from other passengers for their behavior.
